Open source education infrastructure

Inspectable learning software lasts longer.

Kwazi Learning is an AGPL-licensed initiative. The goal is a reusable learning platform whose teaching rules, safety boundaries and provider choices can be inspected.

Provider-flexible

A router isolates the learner experience from any one model provider. Approved OpenAI, Anthropic or locally hosted adapters can implement the same response contract.

Deterministic core

Answer validation, mastery and rewards live outside the language model so they remain testable, portable and explainable.

Modular services

The mobile client, public site, gateway, tutor runtime, worker and indexer have clear responsibilities without forcing a distributed deployment on day one.

How to contribute

Start with a real learner problem.

Good contributions improve a specific learning, safety, accessibility or operating outcome. The repository contains contributor guidance, a code of conduct, governance expectations and a release checklist.

What the project needs most

  • Reviewed learning content and subject-appropriate checkers.
  • Accessibility testing on lower-powered Android devices.
  • Child-safety, privacy and education-domain review.
  • Translations and CAPS Grade R–12 curriculum mapping with named reviewers.
  • Provider adapters that preserve the validated teaching contract.

Never use real child data in examples, fixtures, screenshots, prompts or public issue reports.
